Horseback Riding Lessons and Instructors

English Horseback Riding Lessons and Hunter/Jumper Lessons are available through our riding school using trusted school horses or privately-owned or leased horses. (For younger children, we have a number of ponies available.) The riding school is most people's entry or re-entry into riding.  Riders are evaluated on their skill set and placed in lessons best suited to their level. (See more information on our Levels Program.)  Beginners start out in private riding lessons before being placed in group lessons.  Lessons include educating students on the proper care and handling of horses.  Lessons usually are an hour in length, but advanced lessons often exceed that.

Our instructors have been with us for many years and are experienced in providing the highest level of instruction to meet the needs of each individual rider. Profiles on a few of our instructors can be found here.

In-House Lessons
In the event of rain or other conditions that prevent riding, we conduct in-house lessons in our clubhouse.  Topics range from bridle cleaning and assembly to advanced course strategies.

Horse Show Participation

Hayden Show Jumping regularly participates in numerous “A” shows and county level shows. We have recently added participation in the Orange County Interscholastic Equestrian League (IEL) at the request of our many middle school and high school riders. In addition, we conduct weekend home shows about three times per year. These provide an introduction to showing for our beginners and are good practice for our more experienced riders. They are both practical and fun and even allow non-riders to participate.

Nellie Gail Equestrian Center

We are fortunate to be located at the beautiful Nellie Gail Equestrian Center in the Nellie Gail Ranch Community near the 73 tollroad and the 5 freeway. This 96-stall facility has two riding and turnout arenas, one dressage arena, a large covered Euro Walker, two bullpens, two sunning pens, and miles and miles of scenic, well-maintained trails. The Nellie Gail Equestrian Center is a truly peaceful country oasis centrally located in otherwise hectic, south Orange County. For a map and directions go to the “Contact Us” section.
